The first burst of aging, around age 44, is characterized by a significant increase in cardiovascular risk factors, a decline in alcohol and caffeine metabolism, and accelerated aging of the skin and muscles. These changes are not exclusive to one gender and are believed to be influenced by a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors.

The second wave of accelerated aging, around age 60, is marked by changes in immune function, carbohydrate metabolism, and kidney function. This period also sees a continued decline in skin and muscle health. These findings align with the increased risk of age-related diseases like Alzheimer's and cardiovascular disease after the age of 60.
